It's hard to imagine a better place to celebrate the release of an album ten years in the making than Fat Beats, so it's no surprise that Reflection Eternal (a.k.a. Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek) chose to stop by the legendary L.A. record shop the same day their long, long, long-awaited second album "Revolutions Per Minute" finally dropped. (Come to think of it, there's at least on place that would have been better to celebrate, the Playboy Mansion, but I digress.) In addition to working the crowd and sitting down for an extended signing session, Reflection Eternal grabbed the stage, grabbed the mic, and lead the assembled throng of supporters through a live rendition of their lead single "In This World". Pay attention aspiring emcees, this is what real hip-hop sounds like.
As dope as this performance was, I spent most of it feeling a little bad for Hi-Tek. Damn, if you're not going to let him work the wheels at least give the man a mic. I'm just saying...
