Kendrick Lamar may be the best thing to come out of L.A.'s rap scene since Raiders caps, but the "#Section80" creator isn't afraid to grow an ironic mustache, get a sparrow tattoo, crack open a PBR and hang out with the hipsters. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but he did jump on the remix to Foster the People's mega hipster hit "Pumped Up Kicks".
I actually don't mind Kendrick at all here. It's good to hear him switch up his lyrics from his normally dark and dangerous territory and now I can nod my head to this cut while still maintaining a shred of non-hipster credibility. Let's see if RefinedHype Nation agrees - what do y'all think? Bad look for Kendrick, or a dope way to expand his fan base?
Kendrick's remix is below the original. Enjoy, or not.
As long as we're here, can I admit that I don't understand the chorus? So this dude's emptying a clip at anyone wearing Reebok Pumps? This is the second chorus in as many days I don't get - maybe it's time for a "Hooks That Make No F**king Sense" column.
