RIGHT ABOUT NOW…..What’s up Refined Hype, it’s
Rock City checking in with the newest installment of our weekly column, letting you know what we’ve been up to and how we’ve been working to PUT THE FUCKIN’ ALBUM OUT!!!!!
Happy New Year everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since our last post but January was CRAZY busy for us, all in a good way. To catch you up on what’s happening, we just got back from a great week in L.A. for the Grammys. We did two amazing shows while we were out there, one in Hollywood and one in Long Beach. Much love to both of those crowds, you were great, everyone showed us love and sang along to all of the songs and really got into the show.
We got to hit up a few great parties while we were out there too. Stopped by Clive Davis’ bash, which had the who’s who of the record industry. Carrie Underwood and The Black Eyed Pease performed and we got to chill with our man Akon for a bit. After Clive’s party we headed over to Tricky Stewart’s bash, which was CRAZY. Ciara was on stage singing “Goodies”, Ne-Yo was popping bottles and in the coolest yet strangest moment, the legend Stevie Wonder was there bouncing along to the music!
The actual Grammy show was great. Maybe it’s because we were there but we thought it was the best Grammys in a long time. The energy in the building was amazing and the show was really dope. What did you guys think of the show?
On the performance side, to be honest, we though Beyonce was incredible. We always liked Beyonce but until you see her live you cant really understand why she’s the biggest thing in music. The energy in her stage show turns you into a groupie! No joke! We were also very excited to see the Black Eyed Peas do “I Gotta Feeling” because to us, that is one of the best songs of all-time. It's perfect from start to finish, you can’t ignore it.
We want to hear what you guys thought of the MJ tribute? While everyone definitely killed their performances, we would have liked to see a different song! Don’t get us wrong the song was beautiful and the message is great, but for a Michael Jackson tribute we need one of the classics! We need people dancing in the aisles and going crazy! What did you guys think??
On a different note, while we were out in L.A. we also got some work in the studio with Flo’Rida. To be honest, the first few days weren’t going as well as we hoped, just weren’t clicking with the music but we pulled it out and in the last couple days we really brought it. Ended up creating a few tracks that are, in our opinion, great.
Finally, while we were out there we launched our song “
Oh Africa” which is the official song of the 2010 Pepsi Football Campaign. The song launched on Grammys.com on the day of the Grammys and is INCREDIBLE! We wrote the track for Akon and Keri Hilson who both kill it. Please
support this song as all proceeds go to charity and it really is a banger! Check it out and let us know what you think!
That catches us up for this week but definitely tune in next week to see what we are up to, who we have been working with and how we are working to PUT THE FUCKING ALBUM OUT!!!!
