I'm going to assume a lot of RefinedHype Nation is like me and underestimates
Pill. No matter how hard I try to put my "dirty south" bias to rest a part of my east-coast-born-and-raised brain will always automatically discount any trap rapper coming out of the South. It's why my expectations of Pill were low, but after actually listening I learned the ATL emcee can go lyrical just as well as he can go ham. (Until someone finds an earlier example, I'm crediting him with
the first "go ham" put on record.)
Still, when Pill's "Diagnosis" mixtape dropped and I saw that DJ Scream would be, um, screaming all over it I took a pass. But now that it's been officially liberated from the aforementioned Mr. Scream's vocalizations I'm. The DJ-free version of "Diagnosis" is presented by
MMG and
the mothership and includes guest verses from
Rick Ross, Meek Mill, CyHi Da Prynce, Pusha T., Tech N9ne Trae tha Truth and more. Enjoy.
