Nas Goes Back to the Tape Deck for “Life on Record” Interview (Video)

Posted by Nathan S. on 01/19/11 | Filed under Videos, Nas

The iPad generation will never understand, but there was a day when you spent hours in front of the radio hoping to record dope songs and kept a pencil handy to wind those mofos up. I was always a Memorex man myself, but props to TDK for getting Nas to speak on the good ol' days for part of their "Life on Record" series.

By the way, I'm glad to hear Nas speak so fondly of the days of tape, but the dude sounds like he was huffing glue back in the day. "You'd take the tape out, and it's be black, like, there was music on that." Yeah...um...ok then Nasir.

i was a late bloomer into hiphop, i never had cassettes, so i get that kind of nostalgia about cds...

remember my first cd was all eyez on me...going into the local cd store, buying that cd with my own money, devouring the cover and notes in the cd and jamming that cd for 3months straight until i knew every song by heart...those were the days!

I can still recite the lyrics to that album, its crazy!

Nas is a crazy guy. He's so obviously high... everywhere. Seriously, everywhere. He's almost always sorta bugging out.

I think he was referencing the wonderment of there actually being sound on something so unimpressive.

^ If you want to get super serious about it, then yes, he was expressing his wonderment. (Still sounds like he's been puffing a little too much lately.)
