One can’t help but chuckle a bit when first hearing about the Magnum Live Large Awards. Condom brands and awards ceremonies don’t really go hand in hand unless you happen to be attending one of those adults only conventions in Vegas. But the Magnum Live Large Awards held in Atlanta over the weekend was quite the classy affair. Held at the Ventanas, a rooftop venue in Atlanta, the setting was perfect. The venue consisted of both an indoor and outdoor area giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the picture perfect Atlanta weather.
Guests mixed and mingled and got their networking on prior to the presentation of the awards. Ludacris’ own Conjure Cognac was present at the bar and Magnum condoms were also conveniently placed in baskets throughout Ventanas.
The evenings honoree’s were honored for their contributions to the city of Atlanta, safe sex campaigns, and more. The brief ceremony kicked off with actor Hill Harper who gave a brief synopsis of the Magnum Live Large Awards and even joked about pitching “CSI: Atlanta” to producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Harper’s speech was then followed by the presentation of the awards which was as follows:
Make Change Award - Atlanta Politician Kwanza Hall
The Walk It Award - William Smith
The Walk It Award - Bryan Michael Cox
Go Hard Award - Pittsburgh Steelers’ Keyaron Fox
The Stand Tall Award - Jermaine Dupri
Make Change Award - Ludacris
Other celebrities in attendance at the event included Arrested Development, Trina, Lance Gross, Kid Capri, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and more. The evening concluded with a set from Kid Capri, which I’ve heard is rare, and of course more cocktails.
