Maffew Ragazino
After spending a few days this week going off the hip-hop reservation with new music from Spree Wilson, Blaqstarr and The Chuckness, it feels good to get back to some good old fashioned Rap Nerdery When I first heard Maffew Ragazino's new cut, "1995", I knew I recognized that Hi-Tek beat, and sure enough after some head scratching and soul searching I remembered it was off the lost gem "1999", also known as "One Nine Nine Nine", featuring Common and Sadat X. On the real, I can't remember what I had for dinner last night, but I've somehow managed to keep the brain cells alive responsible for obscure Rawkus Record compilations.

You know how old this album ("Soundbombing 2") is? I remember waiting for it to drop, walking to my local record store (word to Newbury Comics in Boston), paying $15 for the cd and then playing until the CD wore out. I know my fellow '80s babies can feel me on that. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah - Maffew Ragazino. A new emcee with an obvious love for the old school, Maffew really does the beat justice, as does Jon Connor, who if you're not familair is dope as hell too: "Before I sell out I bail out and Dave Chappelle out..." Damn that's a nice line.

Download link is below the video for the original. And if you're a real hip-hop head and don't own a copy of "Soundbombing 2", buy it now. It's a classic. Or just Google search that shit and download it illegally. Either/or.
