Lupe Fiasco Takes Over Timbaland’s “Say Something” (Listen & Download)

Lupe Fiasco
Lupe Fiasco claims his recent onslaught of new, dope material has nothing to do with his exclusion from MTV's "Hottest MCs Alive" list, but it sure seems that way. After recently releasing the the hard rock oriented cuts Fire and Solar Midnite, Lupe this time returns to his more traditional hip-hip roots by taking over Timbaland's new single "Say Something" with a three minute lyrical masterpiece. Drake was pretty damn good on the original, but he's nothing compared to Lupe.

For the record, a lot of people are calling this a "freestyle" but I'm old school, and back in the day freestyle meant making up a verse with no rehearsal. This cut, by contrast, was clearly pre-written. Lupe's good, but he's not good enough to come up with lines like "I am in the sky like helicopter cams / from up here I've seen a lot of fake shit like avid wrestling fans" off the top of the dome. Sorry for the grumpy old man moment. I think I've got it out of me.

@FredRico For sure. Whether it's because of the MTV snub or not, it definitely does feel like Lupe's rhyming like he's got something to prove. The man's absolutely been killing it lately.
