I know the video for Killer Mike's "Grandma's House" dropped awhile ago, but for some reason I'm just now getting caught up on the visuals to one of my favorite Killer Mike tracks of all time (of all time! Kanye voice.). I think it's safe to say this is the greatest hip-hop song in history about selling drugs out of your grandma's house, and the video's pretty damn good too. I'm willing to bet a lot of other folks missed it the first time around too, so I thought I'd throw it up now. Hey, better late than never.
The Refined Take:
1) I never sold drugs, and if I did lord knows I wouldn't do it out of my grandma's house. Although, now that I think about it, it'd probably be a good spot. She's already got everything covered in plastic.
2) You gotta love videos where rappers really, actually go back to their hometowns. I love seeing where people are from, their neighbors, the courts they played ball at. It's the reason I started our My City series.
3) Is that his real brother? Damn, Mike must have been eating his lunches when they were growing up, there's about a 150 pound difference between them.
4) A few months ago Mike announced that from now on he wants to be called Mike Bigga, not Killer Mike (hence his Twitter). Unfortunately everyone ignored him and continued to call him Killer Mike, which means every time his people send me something it's got both names on it. Can we all just agree to pretend like the Mike Bigga thing never happened? It'd be much easier for everyone involveda.
5) "Grandma's House" is off "Pledge Allegiance to the Grind 2"; "Grind 3" is in the works and on the way soon. Keep it locked for more details.
