Kendrick Lamar & Young Jeezy Ride for the “Westside, Right on Time” (Listen & Download)

I have to say, I've enjoyed the fuck out of TDE week. No surprise, but Jay Rock ("YOLA), Ab-Soul ("Nibiru") and ScHoolboy Q ("Party") all dropped off some seriously dope shit. Also no surprise, team leader Kendrick Lamar runs the anchor leg with new release "Westside, Right on Time".

Now...yes, "Westside" isn't as good as I might have hoped for. A big part of that is personal preference - I dig Kendrick more when he's less street and more lyrical - but I try to be careful not to become a spoiled hip-hop fan. We just got a new Kendrick track, that's still better than 90% of the shit you would have had to pay for ten years ago, for free. And the Young Jeezy guest verse even works, it's hard to ask for more.

So thank you TDE, you're continuing to earn my loyalty, and I suspect the loyalty of RefinedHype Nation. And as long as you're here, what was your favorite track from this week? I'm gonna have to go with Soul's "Nibiru".
