Kendrick Lamar, “War Is My Love” & The Rise of Video Game Hip-Hop (Listen & Download)Posted by Nathan S. on 05/21/12 | Filed under Top Stories, Refined Picks, Downloads, Kendrick Lamar |

Following closely on the heels of that "9 Circulos (Remix)", Kendrick Lamar hits the studio with constant production partner Sounwave for "War Is My Love", a surprisingly slow-paced and not at all surprisingly lyrical cut inspired by the upcoming "Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" game. Crucially, this isn't just some unreleased and unreleased K. Dot material that "Ghost Recon" scooped up, this was created specifically for the game: "I did my best to put myself in the shoes of the Ghosts from the video game and capture that feeling of being willing to wage war and do whatever it takes to claim victory,” said Kendrick."
The truth is that we're actually better off with companies like Ubisoft funding music rather than music labels. The labels need music to sell to survive - the video game companies already have a product that sells. They just want the best music they can find. Strange times we live in, but there's reason for hope.
Anyway...those who don't give a fuck about my music industry babbling and just want some music and video games, "Ghost Recon" is set to drop tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22. Those interested can also check out a video clip Kendrick did for the game. Enjoy...
