Just in case you were doing something better with your Saturday night than watching SNL, and I hope you were, something very remarkable happened. Jenny Slate, who was making her debut on the show, managed to let loose a relatively sizable f-bomb on air.
While playing the part of a hardcore biker chick, Slate, rather appropriately, said, "You frickin' just threw an ashtray full of butts at my head. You know what, you stood up for yourself and I fucking love you for that."
Slate's profanity was unusual to say the least, but the fact that a cast member slipped up and said the best/worst word in the English language during live television isn't really that shocking. No, what's really shocking is the amount of people who managed not to swear on SNL. For all the heat rappers catch for their "foul language," not a single hip-hop act has ever cursed on live television, and fact that's even more surprising when you consider the list of artists who have appeared on the show:
Kanye West (Although he was a jackass to Taylor Swift. No, sorry. Wrong show)
T.I.
Ludacris
T-Pain
Lil' Wayne
50 Cent
G-Unit
Eminem
Nelly
J-Kwon (How did J-Kwon sneak onto this list? One of these things is not like the others.)
Snoop Dogg
Jay-Z
Outkast
Ja Rule
DMX (I can't front, I'm shocked DMX managed to keep it in check. Still, his dressing room probably had more guns in it than Afghanistan.)
Dr. Dre
So in summation, motherf*cking DMX, Eminem and Weezy managed to keep the stage profanity free and Kelly Slate couldn't? Really? Really Kelly Slate?
Still, this was far from the worst thing to ever happen on SNL. No, the worst thing to ever happen on SNL was this.
