Kanye West Returns With “Power” (Listen & Download)

Since Kanye and his people so far refuse to talk about the new Yeezy track "Power" that popped up today we don't know if this is an official release, a leak or part of an elaborate and mysterious revenge plot by Taylor Swift, but however "Power" got here, it's here, and it sounds pretty damn fresh. Even though everything Kanye's touched professionally is a smash, the aforementioned Ms. Swift makes "Power" a bit of a comeback track for Kanye, and lyrically the always bristly rapper has an oversized chip on his shoulder. "Fuck SNL and the whole cast, tell em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass, more specifically they can kiss my asshole, I'm an asshole?" Looks like someone still doesn't know how to take a joke (Fish dicks anyone?)

Having apparently had his addiction to emo rap and autone cured, "Power" features a sharply clapping beat from beatsmith Symbolyc One (S1) that flips King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man" into a hip-hop banger, and also brings in Dwele (he of "Flashing Lights" fame) on the hook. To summarize, "Power" is an angry, adventurous and ambitious track, exactly what we've come to expect. It's also the first we've heard off his upcoming "Good Ass Job" album, set to drop whenever Amber Rose runs out of shopping spree cash.

DJ Brookllen	Not bad but still want to hear more from the biggest ego in the game. I know I will get reamed out for saying this but I didn't like 808s and have been missing the Kanye before Auto-tune. If he can go back to his collegiate days I will be very happy to hear whats next.

Please give me 5 seconds to faint and regain consciousness before I start writing. Sorry, lost control for a while. I mean, how can I not?

Say what you will about his occasional onstage incoherence, the guy does have the fortitude to bring it good when he's in the studio. How good? Well, let's say that we are used to bonfires, and this is petrol poured over a candle. And if we are used to walk on a gravel path, then this leads us over scorching coal. Or if the punchlines of other rappers hurt like a haematoma, then this is that hard racing bicycle seat on that the one suffering from hemorrhoids has to sit on. Good enough?

The MC remains the most electric, bold and outspoken figure in modern hip-hop to these ears. Amazing single, and if this is an indicator for the rest of the CD, it's going to be on perpetual replay.
