True to his word,
Kanye West's continuing to release new music every Friday (see previous "
Monster") by dropping his new record "
Devil in a New Dress", a song that's as close to old school Yeezy as we've heard in a minute. It doesn't contain any of his trademark sped-up vocal samples on the hook, but it is heavily soul sampled (this beat could have been Jay's on "The Blueprint"), about women and sex, and contains more than a couple rewind worthy lines, like:
"Put your hands to the constellations/The way you look should be a sin, you my sensation/I know I'm preaching to the congregation/We love Jesus but she done learned a lot from Satan."
"Why you standin there with your face screwed up/Don't leave while you're hot, that's how Mase screwed up/Throwin shit around our whole place screwed up/Maybe I should call Mase so he can pray for us."
While Ye hasn't officially confirmed it, it's safe to assume that "Devil" will appear on his still untitled upcoming album - due to drop in November - and judging by the way it cuts off at the end, I would guess it's designed to segue smoothly into another track on the album.
(Yes, it's still untitled. Despite what
the word of god Wikipedia says, "Dark Twisted Fantasy" is only a possible name. While it very well may end up as the title, neither Kanye nor Def Jam has confirmed "Dark Twisted Fantasy" at any point. That's the line I'm sticking to until someone shows me a direct source [Kanye or one of his representatives] saying otherwise.)
