After weeks of (completely justified) hype DMV heavyweight
K-Beta has finally unleashed his full-length project "
Inglorious Beta". Presented by
Inner Loop Records and
DJBooth.net, the 16-track free album is simultaneously a wake-up call to anyone sleeping on the man's considerable mic skills, and a sweet reward to long time fans for their support.
Why the title? I'll let the man himself explain: “The word ‘inglorious’ refers to being in a state of utter shame and disgrace…I reflected on all of the trials and tribulations of my life, and searched for perspective through reading, meditating etc. It helped me understand that shame is [a] tool with which many build hiding places. Creating this album has helped me lift up the rug and expose all of the dirt underneath. Plus, 'Inglorious Basterds' was an ill movie." Ok, I made up that last part of the quote - but it's still true.
"Inglorious Beta" finds K-Beta joined by a wide array of DMV-based collaborators, including
Diamond District (Oddisee, XO and yU),
Illa Ghee,
Sketch,
B. Sheba,
Mina and
Midian. Production comes courtesy of
Team Demolition, Kev Brown, Kokayi, J-Scrilla, Overok, Souful! and
E-Minah aka The Grussle. Enjoy.
