Us ugly Americans tend to take our northern neighbors pretty lightly, but the truth is that Canada, and in particular Toronto (T-Dot for those in the know) has been cranking out some dope hip-hop for years. The latest emcee to attempt to conquer North America is
JD Era, a hard rhyming young rapper whose mic killing skills are evident throughout his new, really annoying to type, "
Th1rt3en" mixtape. Hosted by
DJ Dax, the project features 13 (get it?) brand new tracks backed by boardwork from the likes of
Boi-1da and
Don Cannon and guest contributors
Drake Freddie Gibbs, Saukrates and
Q Da Kid (to name a few).
Era's debut album is set to drop sometime this year, which, in industry speak, means it might come out in 2010. Maybe.
