In response to Jay-Z's "Occupy All Streets" t-shirts, sculptor Daniel Edwards has created a piece he calls "The Scrooge Totem Pole." The sculpture, which is an obvious shot at
Jay-Z and his recent business dealings, consists of Jay-Z, Mr. Burns, Scrooge McDuck, and Richie Rich. At least Edwards kept with the holiday spirit by adding Scrooge McDuck to the mix.
"I think Jay-Z has made himself a face of [the] Wall Street that Occupiers are protesting against. Maybe Jay-Z is striving to be in the one percent? Which is why I chose the composition of a totem pole because I thought it would resemble the number one," Edwards explained to XXL magazine. "Rap stars who turn 'Scrooge' have to suffer some damage to their street credibility."
While Jay-Z's "Occupy All Streets" t-shirts weren't a great move in my opinion I feel like Edwards sculpture is a bit exaggerated. There's a lot more greedy individuals out there worthy of a totem pole of their own if you ask me.
