Jay-Z Picks “On to the Next One” as New Single. Right Choice? (Listen & Download)

Jay-Z Swizz Beatz On To The Next One
It's official: Jay-Z's selected "On to the Next One" as the next single off his uber-smash album "Blueprint 3". A bouncing, club ready cut featuring production (and ad-libs) from Swizz Beats, "On to the Next One" is catchy, but I don't think it's a hit. Far be it from me to question hip-hop's president, but I wouldn't have gone with "On to the Next One" as the next single, and not just because Swizz has been making the same beat for five years now. Nothing's going to top "Empire State of Mind", but Hova should be riding the wave of goodwill he has going for him right now, not throwing it away on ultimately forgettable club tracks.

What would I have picked? Glad you asked. I would have gone with "A Star is Born". That track's some R&B appeal, and with all his name drops you know it would get everyone talking, Plus he looks good by putting on J. Cole, his Roc Nation label's star young rapper. Plus he could make a video for this that breaks the world record for most cameos in one song. If anyone could pull it off it'd be Jay. To put it more eloquently, f**k "On to the Next One", "A Star is Born" would have been a much better call.

What track would you have selected as BP3's next single> Make your voice heard in the comments section below or email me at nathan(at)refinedhype.com.

Personally, I think the whole "buy my old album" line is why that got the call...To me, it's the worst track on BP3...But what do I know anyway?

I really liked Forever Young, i think that could get some pretty good radio play if thats what the goal is.... Like most swiss tracks, they can grow on you if you listen a few times. I heard Grandmaster Flash spin this track and after that i dug it more

@NYsportsGUY Forever Young would have been a good call too, definitely a lot of crossover appeal. Do white people still love Rod Stewart? I feel like they do.

@Nathan S. Not to mention Bob Dylan performed that for Pope John Paul II once...Can't get more crossover than for it to be one of the favorites of the man who was the spiritual leader of 1 billion people (of which I'm one)!

i would of went with 'Already Home' as the next track, it is by far my favorite track off the Blueprint 3.

Im surprised 'Off That' hasnt been given the single treatment yet. It seems to be the sorta track that would get some listens from the general public.
