At this point Jay Rock is definitely the most straight ahead, non-experimental rapper in the TDE camp. In some ways that makes him seem like a bit of an outsider, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy and Kendrick all sound more like each other than they do Rock, but make no mistake, Jay's definitely an essential part of the squad.

So now that the "Control System" hype is beginning to wane, and "good kid, m.A.A.d. city" is getting closer by the day, it's the perfect time for Jay to step up with some releases of his own. And this shit right here? This new "YOLA" joint? This shit bangs.

I can't say I personally always love his style, but I've got nothing but respect from Jay Rock, and over the right beat he can crush a track like Rick Ross stepping on a midget. Ok, that didn't really make sense, I just wanted to work Rick Ross and midgets into the same sentence.

Anyway...the point is, enjoy this shit.
