J. Period ft. The Roots, John Legend & Rakim “In the Ghetto (Wake Up)” (Listen & Download)Posted by Nathan S. on 02/17/11 | Filed under Downloads, The Roots, John Legend, Rakim, J. Period |

J. Period, the dude behind that dope "Illadelph Edition" mixtape, hooked up with the legendary Roots crew for a remix mixalbum to celebrate their Grammy nod for their "Wake Up" album, and one of the highlights is "In the Ghetto", a cut that finds Period flipping both the classic Donnie Hathaway and Eric B. and Rakim joint. Speaking of which, in addition to some lyrical work from Black Thought, Rakim jumps in to contribute a hell of a 16 - plus we get some more than fitting vocals from John Legend.
I really have nothing smart ass to say about this. It's just dope.
