Anytime you find a rapper reaching into classic rock territory alarm bells go off (cough Lil Wayne cough). Unless said rapper actually knows his rock shit, there's about a 2% chance that it won't come off as some corny "look at me, I'm using a classic rock sample!" doo doo. Thankfully J The S really knows his rock shit
As dope as J The S is, I have to first and foremost give props to producer/drummer Franco Anthony for remaking Lynard Skynard's uber-classic "Simple Man". He didn't try to make "Simple Man" more "hip-hop", he simply did a really solid version of the original and allowed J The S and MMG? Naw, I was never on MMGPill to lay down some heartfelt flows.
If this isn't my favorite track off J The S' upcoming album "Last Days" then he's really got some dopeness he's holding out on for the album release. We'll find out on January 18.
Stream and download is below the original "Simple Man". Enjoy rocking out with your ____ out.
