Really
Ice Cube? Really? Just in case you're not up on your west coast beef, Ice Cube apparently decided that the "new west coast" movement (Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, etc. etc.) needed to be brought into line, a.k.a. not make any moves without his approval, and has been devoting his recent tracks, like his latest "
Drink the Kool Aid", towards reasserting his dominance. I've got nothing but respect for Cube, but why the beef Ice? There's no need to power trip - as an OG it's your responsibility to help raise the next generation, not stomp them out. You don't see Snoop trying to control everyone.
In fact, the title of the track alone suggests that Ice Cube's is trying to control the west coast. (For those of you not up on your cult leaders, the phrase "drink the kool aid" means to accept a leader's words as absolute truth, stemming from when
Jim Jones got his followers to commit mass suicide by drinking poisoned Kool Aid.) So what's Cube trying to say here? That we should all mindlessly accept him as the leader of the west coast...and if we do we'll all end up dead? What?
And if you don't care about anyone of that, the track bangs. Off his upcoming album "I Am the West", due to drop September 28.
