There are some rappers that I want to see succeed because I dig their music, and then there are some rappers I want to see succeed because I dig their music, and because what it would say for the music game in general.
Yelawolf is absolutely one of the latter. I genuinely fuck with his music, I co-sign just about all of his views, but I also want to see his "Radioactive" album do well because of what it would strike a blow for individuality in an increasingly copy-and-paste rap game. No one else sounds like Yela.
I'm not going to do the "if you're really real you'll buy the album" song and dance. You'll cop it or you won't, that's your decision. And Yela's music is definitely the kind of shit you either like or you don't. But just in case the avalanche of
dopeness he's released lately isn't enough, I thought I'd try one last ditch effort with "Radioactive" bonus track "
I See You", a slower more lyrical side of Yela to balance out the recent mic First 48ing he's been doing.
Those feeling properly inspired can cop "Radioactive"
here. Enjoy, and whether it's Yela or some other favorite artist, make sure you support original music.
