Ladies and gents, get ready for one of RefinedHype’s best contests yet. Thanks to HP we’ll be giving away a brand new HP Envy 14 laptop!

The HP Envy 14 is one of HP’s premium laptops and retails for $999. At about five pounds and a little over an inch thick the HP Envy is the epitome of sleekness. The HP Envy also includes a 14.5” diagonal HD Radiance display.

As an added bonus, the HP Envy 14 features the Beats Audio program a must have for any music lover. Beats Audio allows the HP Envy user to hear music, through the Envy speakers or headphones, the way artists intended through an audio system that has re-engineered your average PC speakers. I am an upcoming music journalist, so I always have hundreds of pictures, videos, and audio files to edit. However, my Compaq laptop made in 2005 only has 2 gigs of space left and completely freezes up when I even play videos. Right now I use my 8 year old little brother's laptop when I need to get work done, and with this envy, not only can I get school work, regular work, and my career back on track, but maybe even get some of my dignity back too.

I REEEAAALLLLYYYY need this lol..my old one crashed and I'm stuck using my dads whenever he lets me. It would make it so much easier to have this to get my online classes done as fast as possible being able to have this labtop. It would help me so much in getting my GPA up with this being able to get on whenever I want to do my classes. I need this laptop because my 5 other laptops are ridden with pornographic viruses. In addition, having OCD, I am unable to mix and match applications the way some people can't mix foods. I have one laptop for Music, one laptop for work, one laptop for play, one laptop for my finances, one laptop for legal pornography (though this overlaps), and one laptop purely for communications. In order to complete my collection, I will need one laptop for my hobby, which is blow-torching electronics: I then store the videos of this happening on my play laptop. Thus the dilemma - i do not have laptop I can melt to rubbish for entertainment.

I really need this laptop. Mostly for school because my old laptop doesnt have microsoft office, has so many viruses that the internet rarely works, and is also missing a few keys. Almost as importantly, I need it to come on here, djbooth, and other sites like this to find great music, give my 2 cents, and also enjoy the random nonsense. Plus, my headphones just broke, and my laptop speakers are horrible. I basically dont get to judge a song until i listen to it in my car. This would make me love this site even more(which i didnt think was possible) and also enable me to get even more involved.

Why I need a computer.

I need the HP Envy 14 laptop! My mom takes almost every electronic I am given (except my Beats, THANKS AGAIN for them). I have not had my Mp3 player to myself in 8 months. I do have a computer but try managing to share that NETBOOK with TWO younger sisters and you couldn't even take it to my computer-media based school. YEa I'm a Junior now!!
I mean last night I was on Facebook and my mom came and just snatched it from me. You are probably wondering that if she will take my mp3 player, what would stop her from taking the HP? She doesn't take things I absolutely flip for. I made it clear that she wouldn't take my DiddyBeats without a fight (not a literal fight). And she gets really proud when I win things and get the things I work for.
When it comes down to it though I really need/want the computer for school.

Man... Having a new laptop would be like the greatest thing EVER! For starters I don't have a lap top or computer & haven't had one in a good 4yrs now. My old one crashed & I'm too poor to buy a new one... As an incoming college student, I do not currently own a laptop and only have a desktop at home. Having this laptop would be really convenient and easier for me because I could take it to school and get work done there. Combined with its sleek design, I see it as a perfect laptop to carry around on the go. I was thinking about getting a laptop but right now I do not have the neccesary funds due to paying for books and other school supplies. It would also be nice to have a laptop with great sound quality because I have so many songs on my iTunes and I hate listening to songs on messed up speakers. I am what you might consider a hip-hop head and with this new laptop I can see and listen to Refined Hype easier and faster!

As a recent college graduate, I am finding it difficult to function without a computer. In college I had access to computers everywhere I went...now I have to go over to my brother's girlfriend's house to use one! Needless to say in today's society we function around computers whether it be to listen to the latest music on refinedhype/djbooth or to socialize. As a business major, I know how essential a laptop is, and not owning one (due to unsound financial stability) it is difficult for me to send out resumes, research jobs, keep in touch with friends, but more importantly listen to MUSIC and network. I feel I really need this laptop as my dad was "going" to buy me a laptop, however he has recently lost his job and dropped the idea of it. I'm going into grade 11, I work at a prestigious school, and most teachers prefer electronic work to be done as opposed to hand-written, plus with my terrible hand writing, It'll help presentation of my work. I feel i need this computer because beatmaking has always been a passion of mine and always been very confident in but in my current situation (job and family health problems) its almost been forgotten and i will never forget my dream, but I try and find as much time as i possibly can to make a sound or anything. With so much going on i haven't really had the time or money to invest into a new computer so at the moment to make a new sound all i have is mtv music generator on my old school dell so an upgrade is long overdue so this would be a blessing. not to mention Monday the 23rd will be my 23rd birthday lol kind of a coincedence but what a birthday that would be. My reason for needing this super awesome computer is because my husband built a computer 10 years or longer ago from parts people gave him,we are still using this thing although it is so slow it is taking me a really long time to try and enter this contest!!I can't do anything without this joker freezing up! AHH!!! The reason I need a computer is because the past 3 that Ive had have all been broken when I loaned them to my mother while fixing her computers. I know I shouldve learned my lesson after the second time, but she's my mom and she has a great way of making me feel guilty for trying to do good. 2 reasons- On my 5th hand-me-down desktop and got my first baby on the way! Been using a Pentium 3 running Pro Tools and Reason 3.5. Almost impossible to bounce a song with no more than 10 tracks and no effects! Definitely time for an upgrade! And with a newborn on the way I don't see funds able to go towards a new computer. I have two young austistic sons, and part of their behavioral therapy requires the use constant of the desktop computer I used to use for beatmaking. As a result, I had to give up a fun, stess relieving outlet that really helped me cope with the daily grind of being a special needs parent. As a father, I do this (among other things) happily because my kids come first.

That said, it would really, really be great to have my own laptop that I could use for beatmaking, and allow the kids the use of their own computer for therapy. I really miss that outlet, but I can't compete with my kids for access to the family's only computer. So, in short, I'd really, really appreciate this laptop.

I'm not going to make up some sad story, I'll just tell you the truth. I need/want this HP envy because the laptop I currently own constantly crashes. I am a double major at ODU and it sucks to have to commute to the campus library anytime that I have school work to do. On top of that my two majors are Electrical Engineering & Music Production. So when i travel to the library, I can do engineering work but I can't do any of my music production work. I feel like this laptop is built specifically with a musician in mind. The "garbage-ness" of my current laptop is really hurting my business. I have sessions that I must attend and production that I must do. I'm really close to my first industry placement, but working with my laptop is like taking one step forward and 5 steps back. I've lost everything (samples, drums, software, files) 3 times now and it's tiresome.

So, if I am chosen to receive this awesome new laptop I greatly appreciate it...if not, then I appreciate the opportunity. Thanks!

I need & want the HP Envy 14, because i've been saving up for a Laptop for the longest time and collecting dope samples to venture into music production, but everytime i get close i encounter a setback. The First Time i had 700$ saved and then my dad got into a financial situation and i had to help him out.. it eventually wiped me out completely..back to square1, then I saved up 800$ and i was set and ready to buy my laptop and jump start my passion [music production] then my dad had a stroke and my grandfather died within the same month and i had to pull my money together to had the situation as best i could, so now I'm at another crossroads i've been working and saved up 950$, but i need to keep saving for a Car since the one i have is a LEMON, so winning this laptop would really make things easier for me. I want/need and would be blessed to have the HP for the following: I'm a volunteer DJ on community radio and have an incredible group of young people that come to do my show with me and are learning how to be superstar DJ's. A lot of these youth have had some pretty tough times, but are finding positivity through music, particularly hip-hop. I do not just want this labtop but i turly need one. I ama 23 year old single mother of 2 and money just doesnt come by that easy anymore. I am trying to continue my education and I work at health clinic and donate my time to journalism writing for my local paper. I also write music as well as sing and rap and space for beats is minimal. i dont have a labtop but i have a desktop from before i was in high school that has corrupted several times. Ive spent money to fix it and it still is the slowest running thing ever! it take me like 15 minutes just to get my windows media player to open up. It is quite irksome and i have had patience. I never take the time to buy myslef something, even when i need it becuase i prefer to spend my money on my 2 sons. Any good mother would agree!!! So i think this would be the best thing i have gotten in a very long time. in fact maybe the best thing. I spend alot of time trying to go to work and write columns and music, finish school work. however most the time i have to go to library to use there computers because mine is far to slow. So it would be such an aset to me and my fast paced life. On no BS & not for a pity party either, I'm about to graduate college & could use a new laptop for the "real world". I've been working my way slowly in the the music business (the behind the scenes, working in a company type) and I could really step my game up just a bit. I've had my laptop for over 4 years already, my warranty just expired, my CD-rom drive doesn't even work, the paint is wearing off, got a lot of scratches on it, it's slow & lags (takes about at least 10 min for it to start up).. and just simply enough, I've been needing a new one. I haven't been able to get a new one because both my parents have barely had any work (mom's unemployment checks just stopped). Once I graduate, I won't be able to because I gotta pay back all my loans. Most importantly tho, THIS laptop would be the perfect replacement since my Dell was customized to be perfect for my media/music listening. Just need some help. I mean if you want to hire me, I'm all for that too. Lol.

Not gonna lie i don't have a music career ahead of me or plan on being a music artist but i just love listening to music, truly just a music lover. ANd this hp sounds real sick and it'd be perfect for doing homework and just listening to some sick beats. I'm also trying to start a t shirt company with my friend and of course its money thats holdin us back. Want to see me shriek like a banshee? Want to see me run circles in the middle of my cul-de-sac? Want to se me do the sprinkler? Not too mention the fact that I need this computer to store and upload pictures and home videos of my two lovelies (daughters they are)! This would be the perfect laptop for my life. I need a computer to function at this point and my current one is on it's way out. I've received the "blue screen of death" twice already. I use my computer to write and record music, to photoshop, and to do my business email stuff. My phone doesn't have a data plan because I'm POOR. I live in NYC and I've just started a theater company with my friends. We do original works and this would help me finish writing the musical we're working on. Every day I hope it's not the day I lose everything on my hard drive. Here's to hoping I win. Love the site by the way.

I Need the Hp envy 14 for school I am in college.
and I have lots of research, papers, programing (for school) to do, and it would be really convenient for me (portability). Plus it would help me with my personal projects whether it be editing, programing or music producing.
I want the Envy 14 because of its specs: the quadcore, the stunning resolution, its portability, and light weight (somewhat)
and because I listen to music a lot meaning I'd make full usage of the the BEATS powered sound system. Also I really want it. Thanks for hearing me out.

Great idea from a great site...I want this laptop not only for myself but for my fam..To be real, my fam has been tryna get a decent computer for a minute now but whether its been faulty software, a flood or just plain terrible luck we haven't had a way to get one and hold onto it. I'm working hard on my own as it is to try and afford something decent for my fam, but winning this contest would mean more than you know.
