Everyday there are hundreds or storied in the urban music world that catch my eye, but I just don't have the time to delve into them all (at least until I start taking crystal meth). With that in mind I thought
I'd throw together a collection of interesting pieces that didn't make it into today's pages. Enjoy:
Eminem has obvious ass fetish on new "Taking My Ball" track
I stopped being shocked by anything Eminem says about five years ago, but on his new track "Taking My Ball" for the DJ Hero soundtrack the man makes an astounding 14 references to some version of anal sex (yes I counted, the things I do for you people), most prominently including some choice. Kim Kardashian references Sweet jesus Slim, I live booty as much as the next man, but this is ridiculous. Those psychiatric meds aren't working the way they used to, huh? Beyonce postpones concert in conservative Muslim country
The conservative Muslim country of Malaysia has demanded that Beyonce wear clothing that isn't sexually suggestive for an upcoming concert, something it also forced Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani to do. Apparently not willing to apologize for her epic body, Beyonce responded by postponing the Malaysian show indefinitely and moved her concert over to the less restrictive Indonesia. Remind me not to move to Malaysia anytime soon. For more click

Sasha Frere Jones podcast: Is Hip-Hop Dead?
I know you might find this hard to believe, but I'm not the best music writer alive. That honor would go to Sasha Frere Jones, who doesn't always cover hip-hop, but when he does it's dope. Check out his latest podcast where he discusses the "hip-hop is dead" movement three years later and says that "A Milli" might be the last "real" hip-hop track to ever be recorded. (He writes for the great but very dorky New Yorker magazine, so my apologies in advance for the nerdy sounding host in the intro). To listen, click

Nas Owes the Government $2.5 million in taxes
Goddamn, first Method Man and now Nasty Nas? What is it with these rappers are their failure to pay taxes!? You know the federal government's going to come after you, so why not spend a little less money on the G5 jets and a little bit more on a quality accountant? Anyway, long story short Nas owes the government a crapload of money (a cool $2.5 million) and it doesn't look like he'll be able to pay it anytime soon. For more click

Avery Storm drops "Category 5" mixtape with DJ Green Lantern & Scram Jones
I know, I know. Twista just dropped an album with the same name. But I'm still digging up-and-coming singer/songwriter/producer Avery Storm's new mixtape Category 5, released in partnership with DJ Green Lantern and emcee/producer Scram Jones. Storm's definitely one of the brightest new talents out there. For more info and to download the mixtape, click
