I couldn't even conceive of a world in which Freddie Gibbs and Madlib would do a project together, but if I had I would have been on my knees praying for it to happen everyday. That's the great thing about Sweet Baby Jesus though, he knows what you want before even you do.
Of course I'll take a "187" Gibbs gangster banger any day, but hearing the man flow over some more ambient Madlib production on "Thuggin" is a dope reminder of just how good of an emcee the man really is. He can flow over anything without losing any of his gangsterness, and it says just as much about Madlib that he's willing to work with anyone from MF Doom to Gibbs.
No official release date yet on their collaborative EP, but when it drops it will contains vocals, instrumentals and two bonus beats. Artwork by Jeff Jank features a dual A-side, "Madlib" embossed on one side, "Freddie Gibbs" on the flip. Oh fucks yes.
