Freddie Gibbs (aka Gangsta Gibbs aka The Man With My Favorite New Flow aka Really? He Signed With Young Jeezy? Huh, Ok Then) and
Statik Selektah (aka The Godfather of Boston Hip-Hop aka Someone I Can't Think of As Many Nickname For as Gibbs) just locked themselves in the studio and vowed not to leave until they had a finished EP. 24 hours later they emerged with "The Lord Giveth and The Lord Taketh Away", scheduled to hit iTunes later tonight, and a brand new single, "
Rap Money".
Like
all most of Statik's beats the production on "Rap Money" combines a slow soul/jazz sample with some old school turntable cutting. Throw in the same dope flow from Gibbs I was mentioning above and a guest verse from the Dogg Pound's
Daz - cause why not? - and you have some simply dope hip-hop. No gimmicks, no branding, no marketing plans, just hip-hop.
By the way, rap money is just like real money, expect most people who say they have it don't actually have it.
