Just like we know it would,
Drake's retardely anticipated debut album "Thank Me Later" has more leaks than a Louisiana oil rig, and I'm certainly not going to be the one who puts his finger in the dyke...so to speak. While Drizzy's latest effort "
Unforgettable" doesn't actually
sample Nat King Cole, as I first hoped, he does bring in an Aaliyah sample -
the second we've heard in the last few days - on the hook while Boi-1da's beat knocks in the background. Vocally, Drake drops one of his "dumbest flow ever" (his words, not mine), and the
rapper I love to defend Young Jeezy jumps on for a remarkably understated offering (has the Snowman's heart melted?). Ironically, when we're looking back on Drak'es career, I don't think anyone will remember this song ever happened.
For the record, we now have more than one-fourth of "Thanks Me Later": "
Over", "
Find Your Love", "
July", "
Miss Me" and now this. Early leaks sank 50's "Before I Self Destruct", but didn't seem to affect Usher's "Raymond vs. Raymond". I've got to imagine at least a couple more leaks will spill before the album's June 15 release date. Will it spell disaster for "Thank Me Later"? Nothing short of the fate of humanity rests on the answer.
(NOTE: Rumor is the track's still unfinished. I'll update with the final version when/if it drops.)
