I have to say Drake is really giving me a "So Far Gone" vibe with his latest release "The Real Her" and I'm digging it. I don't think I've heard anything this reminiscent of Drake's first mixtape in quite some time. The "So Far Gone" feel is likely a combination of Drake's singing and the smooth, R&B heavy production on "The Real Her." We've heard quite a few Lil Wayne and Drake collabs in the past year or so, but this is a favorite for me.
Drake sticks to singing throughout "The Real Her" and leaves the rapping to Lil Wayne who I have to admit is getting more and more basic with his verses. Take this line for example, "I don't wanna be in the blind, but sometimes I Stevie Wonder." How many times has Lil Wayne featured a line like that in one of his songs? Too many. Weezy also does a bit or recycling on "The Real Her" as he borrows a few lines from "Miss Me."
Okay, so here's the part where we all get amped about "Take Care" thanks to this somewhat excessive album trailer! Wooooo!!
