Here we go again. The amount of hype surrounding anything
Drake touches is unbelievable, and if you thought there was a lot of talk after "
Over" dropped, just wait until the internets get a hold of his new single "
Find Your Love". Where to begin? First, let's touch on production.
Kanye, who's still laying low after Taylorgate, basically gave Aubrey a beat off "808s & Heartbreak", only with a little more piano. It's maybe slightly more pop than we're used to from Kanye, but the real story here is, of course, the vocals. Not rhymes, vocals. That's right, "Find Your Love" is rhyme-free, which wouldn't be a problem if Drake was a particularly good singer, but he's not. Still, this song was created for teenage girls to listen to in their bedrooms while caressing their Drake poster, and by that measure it succeeds.
Drake's trying to play both sides of the aisle, keeping both the hardcore hip-hop heads and the teen set happy, and so far I have to say he's doing a pretty good job. The risk when you try to get that expansive is always that you'll end up doing neither particularly well, and after "Find Your Love" I think we can conclusively say that slow ballads are Drake's weak point, but if he really wants to make a platinum album, in this climate, he's got to go big or go home.
