Drake Needs to “Find Your Love” (Listen & Download)

Drake Find Your Love
Here we go again. The amount of hype surrounding anything Drake touches is unbelievable, and if you thought there was a lot of talk after "Over" dropped, just wait until the internets get a hold of his new single "Find Your Love". Where to begin? First, let's touch on production. Kanye, who's still laying low after Taylorgate, basically gave Aubrey a beat off "808s & Heartbreak", only with a little more piano. It's maybe slightly more pop than we're used to from Kanye, but the real story here is, of course, the vocals. Not rhymes, vocals. That's right, "Find Your Love" is rhyme-free, which wouldn't be a problem if Drake was a particularly good singer, but he's not. Still, this song was created for teenage girls to listen to in their bedrooms while caressing their Drake poster, and by that measure it succeeds.

Drake's trying to play both sides of the aisle, keeping both the hardcore hip-hop heads and the teen set happy, and so far I have to say he's doing a pretty good job. The risk when you try to get that expansive is always that you'll end up doing neither particularly well, and after "Find Your Love" I think we can conclusively say that slow ballads are Drake's weak point, but if he really wants to make a platinum album, in this climate, he's got to go big or go home.

Why the hate on rap/singing? You said basically the same thing about Em on the bridge of Not Afraid.
Drake is actually a pretty decent singer when compared to his rap comrades (I'm lookin at YOU Ja Rule)Rappers do it all the time now and I even remember 2Pac doing it back in the day lol

Heavily Kanye West influenced.

This isn't a bad thing — and it isn’t entirely unexpected, as Drake has long shown his love for Kanye West and "808's & Heartbreak" to be a core ingredient in his work — but this feels more "heard before" than anything else. Commercially, production is a double edged sword than an unending stream of benefits, in my opinion.

But can you really blame Drake for wanting to grab some of that emotional baggage of 808's? Love has always been more interesting when one has something tragically personal to *ahem* sing about and with some fresh "into the psyche of a man knocked down by love, but far from out" fodder here, Drake (once again) provides more than enough pain for us to revel in.

Shit grows on ya bad and real quick, and that’s before the song has segued into its middle section. 4/5

Goddamn Mr. Top Hat, maybe I should turn over writing duties to you?

Dude, I'm a teenage girl and I don't like this song that much. In fact, I think it was a poor choice for a released single, but this was made for those overly-obsessed Drake fans (most of which, sadly, are high school females).
