Dr. Dre Confirms New Single “Under Pressure” With Jay-Z…Seriously (Video)

I know more than a couple people were angry about my Dr. Dre April Fool's joke, but today I'm completely serious. Ok, not completely serious, but mostly serious. Before the Red Sox season opener last night, Dr. Dre and Interscope president Jimmy Iovine confirmed that he's got a new single featuring Jay-Z called "Under Pressure" on the way. And that's no joke.

The Refined Take:

1) First off, I grew up in Boston, so I've got nothing but love for NESN and the gorgeous Heidi Watley, but this is the venue they choose to make one of the biggest announcements in hip-hop history? Really? Really!? NESN is a regional network and I guarantee you Heidi Watley couldn't even name a Dr. Dre song. Came someone explain what the hell Dre and Jimmy were thinking?

2) Talk about an apt name for a track. Considering it's been over a decade since the last Dre track, and it features the indomitable Hova, anything less than a number one hit should be considered a failure. Now that's pressure. Some terrible Ke$ha song will probably keep it at number two - sometimes I wonder about my fellow Americans.

3) Dre really needs to extend his arms on his swing. Unless he's secretly got Ichiro speed (doubtful), weak line drives to the infield aren't going to do the man much good.

4) Has there ever been a bigger gap between how powerful a man is and how dorky he looks. Jimmy Iovine is a billionaire who spends his days hanging out with Dr. Dre and he's dressed like Sox fan who works in the DMV. Is he wearing a fanny pack?

5) If you think I'm backing down from my prediction, you don't know me. I'm still saying there's no way "Detox" drops this year. No way. They might be able to sneak it in before Christmas, but you know the album will leak, so they'll push it back, Then the second single won't do well, so they'll push it back. Then an obviously juicing Dre will tear his bicep in working in the studio, so they'll push it back, etc. etc. etc.

I hear where your coming from but he was there for Red Sox headphones and this is probably the biggest rivalry in sports so he knows if he mentions it there that with the invention of blogs and youtube it will be everywhere anyway because people are watching this rivalry. I agree though, Detox probably won't drop this year lol....
