Donwill Laura's Tape Mixtape Cover
We;ve seen albums inspired by movies before - Joell and Novel's "Defying the Predictable" leans heavily on "Almost Famous" - but nothing like Donwill's new mixtape "Laura's Tape". Designed to build some momentum behind his upcoming album "Don Cusack in High Fidelity", "Laura's Tape" finds the Tanya Morgan alumnus stretching his creative boundaries while still keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground. The mixtape is hosted by DJ King Most and, sadly, does not contain a guest verse from Jack Black.

Ok, just in case you didn't get it on your own, quick reference breakdown. First, Donwill's alias and the album are obviously a reference to John Cusack's movie "High Fidelity", a flick about a music-obsessed guy who works in a record store. To land the woman of his dreams, Laura, he makes her a mixtape; hence "Laura's Tape" as the mixtape and his album's lead single "Laura's Song". Oh, and Jack Black is John Cusack's co-worker at the record store. Follow all that?

"Don Cusack in High Fidelity" drops on March 23. You can check www.mcdayjob.com for any updates.
