The thing about a summer anthem is you can't declare it a summer anthem. It has to happen organically...well, and the radio playing it 719 times a day doesn't hurt either, but still, you get my point. So people, how about it? Is Dom Kennedy's "My Type of Party" the upcoming summer anthem it's proclaiming itself to be?

Frankly my answer is no. It's a chill track, it's a decent track, but I'm just not hearing anything particularly outstanding. Then again, maybe that's just because I'm not high right now - a healthy does of THC always helps in situations like this. Maybe a nice joint would help me feel less like these rhymes are basic and more like they're entertainingly and purposefully simple.

But with nary an ounce in the house I'll just have to rely on your people, per usual. So how about it RefinedHype Nation. What are the odds "Party" will be playing at your summer barbecue? Either way, fans of the L.A. emcee can look forward to the release of his "Yellow Album"...um...album, due out in June.
