(This video always makes me feel like flipping over cop cars Canucks style.)
After what happened at the Pete Rock show the other night I felt inspired to listen to some real fuck the police hip-hop, thought it over and immediately delved into a dead prez binge. I'm talking all of "Get Free", select portions of "Revolutionary But Gangsta" ("Walk Like a Warrior", "D.O.W.N." etc.) and some other assorted goodness. And when a new prez cut, "Dead Man's Shoes" dropped in out of nowhere in the middle of my binge it was too large of a coincidence to ignore.
While they've lost some of their fire over the years M1 and stic.man still make revolutionary rap better than anyone else and "Dead Man's Shoes", which borrow Marley's "Jah Army" is no different, providing plenty of head-nodding ammo to fire at the system. Word.
And yes, I'm well aware of the irony/implications of being a white Dead Prez fan. When the revolution comes they're coming for me too.
