Back in October of '09 Mississippi's most controversial rapper
David Banner and beatsmith extraordinaire
9th Wonder announced that their collabo album "Death of a Pop Star" would be coming "very soon". And then, um, some time went by and, um, some more time went by, and while we got little tidibits the push behind the album seemed to disappear. And then today we got hit with their new track "
Strange", a gorgeously produced cut (no surprise there) featuring Banner in his revolutionary rap mode and a guest verse from
Big Remo, who I didn't know but comes through with a solid guest verse. If "Death of a Pop Star" is anything like "Strange" I can't wait for the album to finally drop - wait for it, wait for it - "soon".
On a side note, not that I'm complaining but 9th's been putting out tracks like Weezy in '08 lately. His
collabo album with Murs, that dope Rapsody cut on
yesterday's Daily Re-Up, I don't think I've gone a day in the last few weeks without hearing new 9th material. So either he's been holding onto a grip of material and unleashing it all at once, or he's cranking out new material faster than a runaway Toyota. Either way, you can never have too much 9th in your life.
