Usually my blackened, hardened heart feels no mercy, but every so often I feel bad for these artists. I really do. They pour their hearts, and in many cases their rent money, into projects in hopes that someone (kind of) like me will hear it, but when I get hit with 20 new projects a day there's just no way I can listen to them all. I've got no doubt that I've missed out on some damn good albums sifting through all the garbage, but, as Kurtis Blow would say, these are the breaks. So while I can definitely tell you how
not to get your music posted, the honest truth is that sometimes getting your music posted is just good luck.
For example, yesterday I saw that IE emcee and producer
Curtiss King had dropped a new album, "
D.I.Y.", and while most of the time a project like his would have fallen into the "I'd love to listen but I don't have the time" pile, considering the man hooked up a hell of a
"Your Favorite Rapper is Poor" piece I made sure to find the time. Thankfully, the project is dope as fuck. He's gotten better in nearly every phase of the game since "
Jet Pack on E", and the Onyx reference alone on "Sinbad" makes the project worth it. So enjoy. Sometimes a project slips through the cracks, and sometimes you catch it.
Mixtape download link and preview are below the tracklist. Check out that "PCC" joint, that's my shit.
