Weekend Edition: The best of the past week on RefinedHype, running from Saturday to Monday morning.
As I've written before,
Crooked I is the most overlooked member of
Slaughterhouse (if this were the Beatles he'd be George Harrison), but that's more because he doesn't have the headline-commanding personality of Royce and Budden then any lack of skill. The man was standing firmly on his own to well before Slaughterhouse, and new mixtape leak "Monsters in My Head" is yet another example of the west coast emcee's ability to simultaneously ride solo and for the team.
An unceasingly dark cut whose hook echoes the title of his upcoming mixtape, "Psalm 82:6", "Monsters" is everything we've come to love about Crook and Slaughterhouse. There's no on who can even come close to putting together this kind of lyrical firepower - right now it's Slaughterhouse, and everyone else.
So instead of delving into another "who's the Slaughterhouse emcee?" debate (there will be plenty of opportunities coming up to do that), let's just bang some dopeness from Crooked and crew. "Psalm 82:6" is due out in March / sometime before "Detox". Until then, enjoy....
