I'm not sure what I expected on Crooked I's "Diamond In The Back," but I really didn't expect the song to sound this smooth. It's a good smooth though and a bit of a change from Crooked I's usual releases. On "Diamond In The Back" Crooked I recruits singer K-Young who does an impressive job with the hook. On top of that K-Young's hook also gives the song a nice balance when paired with Crooked I's sometimes gritty lyricism.
It's unclear who produced the beat on "Diamond In The Back," but it's pretty impressive and the horns are a nice touch. You'd be hard pressed to find a song from Crooked I, or any Slaughterhouse member for that matter, that isn't on point lyrically and "Diamond In The Back" stays true to that.
Crooked I's "In None We Trust" will be released digitally on December 12th.
Nathan Update: Added the Curtis Mayfield William DeVaughn original, which is a fucking classic (and Ludacris also used). Stream and download below the video.
