It wasn't that long ago, let's say a year now, when people were comparing Earl Sweatshirt to Andre 3000 and proclaiming him the future of rap. The hype was undoubtedly only increased by his quasi-mysterious disappearance at exactly the moment Odd Future really blew - despite the fact that he was only a teenager, and only had a handful of tracks to his name, his music started to take on an almost mythological aura.

And then he came returned, and.....has been pretty quiet, minus a give-or-take verse on Frank Ocean''s "Channel Orange". Predictably, all the people proclaiming him the next greatest rapper alive are nowhere to be found, but that's not Earl's fault. The fame and hype was largely thrown at him, and he's predictably struggled to handle his life changing essentially overnight.

Listen, Earl can really rap, and his new loosie "Chum" once again proves it. How about we just leave it at that for now and give a 18-year-old kid some time to figure this shit out before we either start proclaiming him a bust, or a savior? How about that?
