I was planning on The Away Team's dope "
Independence Day" mixtapes being today's sole 4th of July representative, but then
the other Cleveland stoner rapper extraordinaire
Chip Tha Ripper decided to light up an identically titled but much different sounding "
Independence Day" mixtape and, well, I just can't say no to some chronically infused hip-hop goodness. Especially when it's meant to celebrate our great nation.
Guest verses come courtesy of
Kid Cudi, Pac Div, Dom Kennedy, Lil B, Fly Union and more, along with beats from
6th Sense and a host of other beatsmiths. And keep an ear out for Chip's much, much more cleverly titled upcoming mixtape, "Gift Raps".
As long as we're here, I'm sure approximately 1,147 other rappers dropped "Independence Day" mixtapes over the weekend. How about some originality people? If I was an underground rapper I'd totally drop a "Declaration of Independence" mixtape on the 4th, and since I can't rap, I'm offering the title up to all you indie emcees out there. You're welcome - see, was that so hard?
