I Kinda Like Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like (G.O.O.D. Music Remix)” (Listen & Download)

Weekend Edition: RefinedHype's most popular pieces of the week, running from Saturday to Monday morning.

When I first wrote about Chief Keef my primary goal wasn't to pass judgement on his dopeness or wackness, it was to point out the power the internet has to turn someone from "no one" to "every blog in the country is going to write about this" in literally a matter of weeks.

Case in point, the new "I Don't Like (Remix)", featuring the G.O.O.D. Music squad....plus Jadakiss. Two months ago there wasn't a single person on this track who knew who Chief Keep was, and now Kanye and crew have elected to have the young Chi man's name splattered across the globe. But let's be real, you really don't care about all that background shit. You just want to know if the track bangs. In that case, yes, yes it does. Let's break it down:

Pusha T: A solid offering from top to bottom - it's not east to come into a track on an a cappella and set the energy level.

Kanye West: Ah, some of that classic aggressive Yeezy shit. The interwebs are going to be pulling quotables from this verse for week. Speaking of which....."Rap Line That Makes No Fucking Sense" alert! "I was in too deep like Mikah Phife[r]" would have been a dope line, if Mikah was in "In Too Deep". I can only assume Ye confused him with Omar Epps.

Chief Keef: Dude reminds me a less insane Waka, if that make sense. The dude isn't crushing anyone on the mic, but he's got that innate ability to get a track hyped as well.

Big Sean: Yawn. I'm a Sean fan, but his intricate flows don't work on bangers like this. Just like "Mercy", his is definitely my least favorite verse here.

Jadakiss: Hard to go wrong with a Jada verse. Just to be on the safe side, don't fuck with the man. You know what I'm saying?

So what's the takeaway here? Nothing we didn't really already know. Chief Keef sounds good on grimey bangers, and Kanye's a genius when it comes to marketing. Regardless, the "I Don't Like (Remix)" has a solid shot at becoming an early summer anthem, and that's mind boggling considering two months ago Keef wasn't even a blip on the national radar. These are strange times we live in my friends.

The heavyweight remix is below the original version. For the record, Young Chop, the original producer of "I Don't Like", really really prefers the beat on the original.
