Bun B & Drake “Put It Down” (Listen & Download)

Bun B Drake Put It Down
You've got to give it up to Bun B, that dude was laying down tracks with Drake well before any major emcees (outside of Cash Money) were giving Drizzy the time of day. And now Aubrey's returned the favor by jumping on Bun's new cut "Put It Down", which the UGK-for-lifer decided to let go of himself (*self-leak*) on his BandCamp page. Paying attention Lupe? This is how you do it.

For everyone who saw the name "Drake" and started hyperventilating, take a deep breath. First, Drake throws down the track's hook, but that hook's basically a call back to this work on "Shut It Down". As far as his verse work, it's decent. He throws out more than a couple Pimp C/Sweet Jones references (respect) and the flows nice, but the punchlines are decent at best. In other words, no hate, but no real love anyway.

Oh yeah, Bun. He obviously gets outshined by Senor Drizzy - what do you expect when someone else is doing the hook and half the verses? - but his opening verse is still that consistently quality work we've come to expect from the real O.G. Speaking of which, his new album "Trill O.G." drops August 3. Personally, I'm expecting great things.

Production + Bun sound dope, but I dislike how Drake raps the hook then sings that one bit. It sounds off.

I'm not going to disagree with you tdotraza. I have no real problem with this track, but I'm not really digging it either. It feels like one or two elements were off enough to stop it from being truly dope.
