Twenty years ago Tupac dropped his first ever single, the classic "Brenda's Got a Baby". That's right, his first ever single was about a twelve-year-old girl who was essentially raped, nearly kills her baby and then falls into a life of prostitution. Can you even remotely imagine that happening today? The label would be like, "How about instead Brenda is 21, isn't pregnant, loves Louis Vitton and she just wants to get drunk in the club. We can get LMFAO on the hook...oh, and a David Guetta remix! Yeah, that's way better."
Thankfully the game was just a little different in 1992, and Pac launched a legendary career with Brenda. Fast forward to 2012 and partially as a lyrical exercise and partially as a homage, Sha Stimuli delivers the untold second half of the tale on "Brenda's Baby". From swag parody "Unsung" to the joys of fucking mothers, you can always count on Sha to deliver a new twist over a nearly four minute barrage of emotional mic work. He's like Joe Budden, except not as depressed and without the big booty models.
