Thank sweet baby jesus. Just minutes after Eminem ruined any chance that "Recovery" would be a classic album with the atrocious "
No Love",
Big Boi maintains the incredibly dope winning streak that his upcoming effort "The Son of Chico Dusty" is on with his new track "
Lookin' For Ya", featuring sadly rare rhyme work from his Outkast running mate
Andre 3000, a hook from
Sleepy Brown (who is to Big Boi what Nate Dogg is to Dr. Dre) and some uncharacteristically funky production from
Boi-1da.
And now for some crucial backstory. "Lookin for Ya" may not appear on "Son of Chico Dusty". Why not? Because
Jive's being a punk. Long story short, after Jive refused to move forward on "Son of Chico" Big Boi left for
Def Jam, but
Jive still has Andre 3000 under contract and is bitterly refusing to release any of his music to Big Boi. If fans knew how often label politics prevented them from hearing great music there would be riots. For an in-depth explanation from Big Boi himself,

For the record, radio single ("
Shutterbug")? Check. Banger ("
General Patton")? Check. Ladies jam ("Lookin' for Ya")? Check. So far "Son of Chico" has it all. I couldn't be more stoked for July 6. Hopefully Jive will get their shit together by then and we'll hear an official Outkast album track.
