Here Are Those Samples the Beastie Boys Are Being Sued Over

Posted by Nathan S. on 05/10/12 | Filed under Quick Hits, Beastie Boys
Completely coincidentally, the day before MCA died Tuf America, the label representing D.C. go-go band Trouble Funk, filed a lawsuit against the the Beastie Boys. The suit alleges that the Beastie's used samples from Trouble Funk's "Drop the Bomb" (1985) and "Say What" (1982) on four records from the Beastie's classic "Paul's Boutique" and "License to Ill" albums, including "Hold It, Now Hit It, "The New Style", "Shadrach" and "Car Thief".

Tuf America claims it took them this long to file suit because the samples were so distorted it's almost impossible to recognize them without computerized sound analysis. Sounds like a challenge to me. RefinedHype Nation has some of the most educated ears in the game, anyone hear any Trouble Funk samples on the Beastie records?
