Who Ate Up “H.A.M.” Better, XV or Emilio Rojas? (Listen, Download & Vote)

Kanye West Jay-Z H.A.M.
The second Jay and Kanye's "H.A.M." hit our collective plates I knew I'd be flooded with crappy freestyles - in fact I think a lot of dudes started writing their rhymes before the song even dropped - and sure enough I've spent the last few weeks deleting emails with the words "H.A.M.", "Freestyle" and "Yo, Hot Shit Right Here!" in the subject line.

There have been a small handful of rapper who have done the Lex Luger banger justice though, chief among them Kansas representer XV and NYC up-and-comer Emilio Rojas. Since this is hip-hop, and dudes on the corner have been arguing about who has the better rhyme skills since Melle Mel was wearing fringe vests, I thought I'd take the opportunity to do a little "H.A.M." showdown. So who you got RefinedHype Nation?

Man this is tough. They were both on point. Emilio's flow is just sublime, but V's punchlines have you like what did he just say? I think I have to give it to XV on the rewindability of the punchlines, though I do love what Rojas says about the beat "I don't even know if I like this, sh*t just sound fck'n loud to me"

Emilio is nice, but XV gonna take this one.

On another note: I don't think H.A.M.'s beat it that great. It's good, but I don't think it's that good. lemme' rephrase that. It's not like we haven't heard of something like it before... maybe just because it's Hov and Ye.

This beat suits Emilio (even though he ain't feelin it) better than XV, Ye and Jay. "Nobody fuckin with me right now" = Correct.

XV made the beat listenable, but Emilio didn't for me.

Looks like it's XV in a tight race. I'd have to agree with the general consensus - yes, XV's lyrics are deeper, and he approached it on a much deeper level, but Emilio's flow is fucking on point to me.

Oh, and because Emilio himself brought it up over on the Twitters, it's obviously all love. I'm not trying to divide rappers or create conflict - who's the doper emcee? has been asked since the very first days of hip-hop. They call it the game for a reason. Competition.

Emilio has a SICK flow here. XV had doper lyrics though.
